Michelle Steel, Supervisor, 2nd District has been accused of using taxpayer funds to organize a campaign event for herself and Tony Raukaukus. She has routinely lacked the transparency we should demand from our government and the people we elect to represent us. When one has $500,000 in a campaign fund as Michelle Steel does, why are they spending tax payer funds to promote a campaign event for their own benefit? Michelle Steel’s lack of public response should concern everyone in the 2nd District.
“That mailer – very clearly – looks exactly like what it is. It’s an invitation basically to meet and greet to kind of get someone’s name out there, not to necessarily discuss [a] particular policy,” — Supervisor Shawn Nelson
This is another reason I am running against Michelle Steel for the Supervisor position in the 2nd District. I believe in transparency. I am proposing an open door policy for the 2nd District Supervisor’s office. I will hold face to face meetings with constituents the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Constituents will be able to register ahead of time or just walk in. They will be given 10 minutes to talk to me about anything that is on their mind. In this way, I will learn more about what is going on in the diverse 2nd District.
It is time we move away from politicians like Michelle Steel who refuse to be transparent and move towards someone like me who believes in complete and total transparency. It is time to vote for someone who respects your tax dollars the way they respect their own finances. We do not want to continue supporting politicians who spend our tax dollars on personal gain. It is time we elect someone with ethics and character, someone who will keep the public aware of any and all expenditures.
We need change in Orange County. We have 1 district where there will definitely be a new Supervisor, another where the incumbent is the only person running and then we have the 2nd District where the race is between the same old approach (Michelle Steel) and the small business owner (me). The choice is clear. Please vote for Michael Mahony for Supervisor, 2nd District in June.
